Park Ave Elementary School Nashville TN

Park Avenue Elementary School has been an active community member in its West Nashville neighborhood for over fifty years. When Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County Public Schools decided to upgrade the school facilities in the mid-1990s, Park Avenue was named one of three Enhanced Option Schools in the Metro system, providing options for students in inner-city neighborhoods.

The Park Avenue Enhanced Option School offers a low student per teacher ratio, fully equipped art and music facilities, and such distinctive programs as: English-as-a-second-language, special needs and life skills programs, and comprehensive development classrooms. This unique school is designed to partner with its local community through such shared facilities as: its dining center, a full-size gymnasium, a media/computer center, a community education center, a police precinct, and a community health clinic.

The Metro Schools Department and GTG worked together to develop a facility program and design that would provide a functional facility in support of the school’s mission while evoking a sense of ‘neighborhood’.
