Seigel Middle School Murfreesboro TN
Recognized as the top middle school in the 2002 Award for Excellence in Architectural Design program, sponsored by the Tennessee School Boards Association.
Working with the Rutherford County Board of Education, the Gould Turner Group developed a prototypical middle school design. A task force was appointed by Hulon Watson, Director of Schools, to incorporate middle school philosophy, adolescent developmental needs, and effective curriculum into the building design. This committee visited other new middle schools in Tennessee for ideas, as well as using experience, expertise, and knowledge gleaned from years of teaching the middle school student. Siegel Middle School's design was the result of collaboration between the architect, task force, and the Rutherford County Board of Education.
The program is based on a 1000 pupil enrollment and is academically structured as a mini-school model cluster based on grade levels. The facility incorporates state-of-the-art technology program focused around the media center and a 700 seat auditorium.
