Smith Springs Elementary School Antioch, TN

Designed for the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System, Smith Springs Elementary School is a 98,200 square foot elementary school planned for 800 students.

Located in South Nashville, this project is designed to respect the environment of the surrounding residential area. The exterior of the school evokes a clean modern look with massing broken up to reduce the visual scale of the building. The building's program features a multipurpose gymnasium, community room, resource center, kitchen, play area, and classrooms.

Smith Springs Elementary School was designed as a LEED certified facility. It's design incorporates locally sourced materials, lighting controls, high efficiency windows, mechanical systems, indigenous landscaping, pervious pavers, and bio swales for filtering ground water, as well as other sustainable elements.

Community meetings were conducted throughout the development of the project to achieve continuity with a historically scenic area known for nature and wildlife.
