Guthrie Corning Hospital Corning, NY
"This state-of-the-art hospital allows us to fulfill our mission to consistently provide top-quality healthcare to our patients and the Corning Region," said Guthrie's Corning Hospital President Shirley Magana.
The new 65 bed Guthrie Corning Hospital replaces the 110 year old existing facility in Corning, NY. It was designed to incorporate such lean design features as minimized travel distances, multiuse flexible spaces, and streamlined workflows. The new hospital provides amenities for patients, their families, and staff, including convenient charting stations between patient rooms, sleep sofas in patient rooms for families, and bedside room controls for patients. Wayfinding through the facility is direct and intuitive. The site is reachable by public transportation, and covered drop off canopies for the main entrance, cancer center, ambulance, emergency, and patient discharge are provided.
To reflect the changing delivery landscape of healthcare, the new hospital was designed to better accommodate same-day services and shorter hospital stays. The hospital houses 50 med/surg, 8 CCU, 5 LDRP, and 2 post-partum beds. The attached cancer center has its own identity and includes radiation therapy and chemotherapy. The new design incorporates many environmentally responsible and energy efficient design solutions to help Corning Hospital achieve a LEED rating.
