Pearland Medical Center Pearland, TX

Pearland Medical Center is a new full service hospital located on 48 acres in the Shadow Creek neighborhood of Pearland, Texas. This three story facility houses 33 inpatient beds and extensive outpatient services. It was designed to expand both horizontally and vertically—up to three more floors and 150 beds, giving it the ability to continue to serve the community as it grows.

Services provided in the new hospital include a full range of acute care inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care services, including surgery, diagnostic imaging, cardiac catheterization, women's services, nursery, NICU, and critical care services.

This patient-centered facility was designed as a prototype in concert with an identical facility, Medical City Alliance, in Fort Worth, Texas. The Owner/A/E/Contractor team worked in a partnering relationship from conceptual design through construction on both projects. The MPE sub-contractors were engaged early during the planning phase of the project to work in a design assist relationship with the project's consulting engineers. Other unique aspects of the project included the implementation of Owner negotiated sole source contracts, preferred vendor lists, and construction prefabrication.

The design incorporated lean concepts to streamline travel distances and processes. Designed to achieve LEED Silver certification, wood materials used were from certified sustainable resources, 95% of construction waste was diverted away from landfills, and water usage is expected to decrease by 40%.
