Florence, AL— After much anticipation and speculation throughout the community, the grand opening date for North Alabama Medical Center was finally revealed. Physicians and staff will begin treating patients at the replacement facility for Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital on December 6, 2018.
“It’s been the best-kept secret in Florence for weeks,” said Russell Pigg, Chief Executive Officer of North Alabama Medical Center. “I’m glad people in the Shoals area now know the open date. It’s something the entire community can get excited about and look forward to.”
With the move date now just nine months away, hospital administration and department directors are working diligently to develop procedures, staffing assignments, and schedules to guarantee no element of patient care or safety is compromised during the move.
“We are excited for this facility and what it will mean to the community and this entire region. It is clear from the name of this facility, ‘North Alabama Medical Center’ that we feel it is our responsibility to provide high-quality care to the people of the Shoals and beyond,”
said Marty Rash, Chairman, and CEO of RCCH HealthCare Partners.
“Even now, because of the outstanding team of employees and physicians at ECM Hospital, we are seeing patients from across Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi come to us for care. We think that when this facility opens, we will only continue to see more and more people choose to come to the Shoals for their healthcare needs.”
Hospital staff and Emergency Medical Services will work together to transfer patients to the new hospital site at 1701 Veterans Drive. After a final walk-through of ECM Hospital on December 6th, the doors will close to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital and staff will officially begin operating from North Alabama Medical Center.
“ECM Hospital has been a major part of our community for decades. From treating countless patients to being one of the largest employers in Lauderdale County, this hospital has a special place in the hearts of many,” said Pigg. “It will be a very sentimental and nostalgic day, however, I look forward to the excellent care, convenience and services we can provide from North Alabama Medical Center.”
