Sierra Vista Celebrates New Hospital

SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) – Officials in Sierra Vista officially cut the ribbon on a new hospital on Tuesday.

The Canyon Vista Medical Center is scheduled to open to patients on April 23.

The 100-bed facility was built to replace the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center.

“It’s nice to have and nice to know that we have the facilities here in Sierra Vista locally for pretty much any care we may need,” said Russell Schultz. He is not alone in feeling that Sierra Vista needed more when it came to healthcare so city and medical leaders built the new Canyon Vista Medical Center.

“We are servants and our mission is to give people what we need and is present in our community its high quality its safe and its compassionate and that’s what our staff is doing and that’s what this building is doing,” said Dr. Dean French, CEO of Canyon Vista Medical Center.

This hospital replaces a nearly 50 year old building and features private patient rooms, a behavioral health unit and a trauma center.

“I have been in the community for eight years now, and during that time I have been able to see the community grow. I am just so excited for the individuals in this community to have the ability to have a new state-of-the-art facility in which we can take care of both family and friends,”

Jarrett Hamilton with the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center Board of Trustees.

With a brand new medical center in their backyard, medical professionals say they wouldn’t be surprised if more people started to relocate to the area.

“With our wonderful climate that we have here and a lot of retirees who decided to locate back to Arizona so I think having a state of the art facility here will help reinforce that decision,” said Hamilton.

All the artwork here in the hospital is done by local artists so every picture or photograph is somewhere in Cochise County.
