In 2011, GTG began providing VUMC architectural, interior design, and construction administration services on an as-needed basis and has since  provided architectural services on over 55 VUMC projects.  These include  pharmacy upgrades, operating room  renovations, several projects for highly specialized areas, and the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and Health Breast Center.

In 2019, GTG began providing architecture and interior design services to VUMC for a 17,200-SF renovation of their outpatient cancer clinic. The clinic is designed to maximize functional efficiencies to move patients through the intake process with no more than a five-minute wait for service. During the design phase, GTG worked closely with the project’s stakeholders to determine the appropriate number of intake rooms, exam positions, and phlebotomy stations to meet current and anticipated projections.

The Vanderbilt Cancer Clinic will incorporate telemedicine, in which patients will be able to readily consult with their specialists remotely via technology. The shift in volume-based clinics to value-based connected telemedicine is becoming an integral part of the healthcare delivery process.

An onsite compounding pharmacy with the ability to provide medications necessary for patient treatment and convenience is incorporated into the clinic’s design. Additionally, a clinic education library will provide patients access to information which will allow them to make informed decisions by researching their medical conditions.

Throughout this project, the planning and design team worked closely with hospital staff and end users to fully understand the functional and programmatic requirements of the clinic. An eight-phase construction plan was developed to keep the clinic open during construction. Estimated completion date is 2022.
