Wesley Medical Center is a large metropolitan hospital located in the heart of Wichita, Kansas. This project entailed the renovation, expansion, and transformation of a 1955 structure to a modern, vibrant, and welcoming Children’s Hospital.
Along with the requirement of meeting a sophisticated functional program, a great deal of emphasis was on the image, aesthetics, and the appropriateness of materials for a young population. The bright colors, bold patterns, and fun, interactive elements of the interior design present a stress-free environment for children and families.
A new covered drop off with colorful round bollards was created street-side to serve the main entrance. The redesigned brightly light facade allows the building to be eye-catching and transformative from the first view.
Because accurate existing plans were unavailable for the 1955 building, the design team and the contractor worked closely together which provided early due diligence in an attempt to mitigate the potential negative impacts that unknown conditions could have had on the project. The result was that this transformative project completed on budget and ahead of schedule.
